The Coffee House is Open 24/7

Ning has changed some features around.

On the tool bar below (?) you will find our "chat" feature: "The Coffee House" where members can meet and visit, discussing whatever is one their minds.

Please remember that, just like in a real coffee house, you may be seen and heard by many people, even ones that you don't know are listening. your comments often linger long after you are gone.

So please remember to keep that in mind when conversing. Be safe and have fun.

Young Adult Mentors

Here they are!

Say "Hello!" to several of them. Tell them about yourself. They are busy folk, many of them are off at college and pursuing their own projects, so don't feel offended if they don't get back to you right away.

About Teen Writers and Artists Project

Someone told me once that it is very important to create a community of writers and artists. This is my effort at doing just that. Some of our members have MySpace pages; some do not. But even on MySpace we are not creating the tight community that I believe is essential for all of you to grow. Now we have something open that you can use to show off your talents to each other, to experiment, and to communicate.

Not all our members are from the same area any more and I want us all to… Continue

Wow! Just Wow!

WOW! Yesterday was totally Epic. I was invited to take several students to the TEDxYouth@Midwest conference in Chicago. We saw so many people who have an incredible impact on the world. People from Sandra Day O'Connor (first female Supreme Court Justice) to Pablos Holman (Leading Computer Hacker) to Dean Kamen (Inventor of the Segway and other even more impressive devices). They invited many people who are only a few years older than the students I brought to talk about their businesses and…

War against Spam

Hi Everybody,

Today I noticed that someone joined the community last Tuesday and filled up 3 pages of discussion boards with advertisements for Viagra etc. This person is gone. As you savvy internet users know, this is nothing but spam and it makes our site look crappy. If you see more of this stuff popping up, please send me an email because it usually comes in waves. I am looking for various ways that I can be notified more promptly that this stuff has happened from the…

I wrote a poem!

I cut myself.I do it to prove that IHave problemsThat I,Am not living in some perfect little world full of gumfairies and sugardropsI cut to show the world that there is something inside of me dying to get outThat there is something beneath this surfaceAnd that I need attention. I shouldn’t complain.I have two parents and a brother,All living under the same roof with the same blood streaming through,Or in my case, out of,Our veins. When we aren’t too hungry, we can make foodAnd then, we can…See More

Brain Dumping: Jan 17th

Such a pretty thing....These words that drip from my pointy sharp canines into puddles on the cracked floorboards and start crawling around to make....BABIES!!!-please note that in my head that sounded "artsy and poetic" while I meant to thrash around and flail my arms about like it meant somethingwhile I dropped my wits on the ground only to be gathered by my open mouthed audience who I've left behind in the dust.YES. my words fornicate and fraternate... They do the salsa and the tango halfway…See More

I like Clocks

I like clocks, apparently. Seriously, if you looked at my gallery on TDA a couple days ago (before I cleaned it up) like half of the images had clocks in them. I am not really sure why I like them so much, but I assume it has something to do with the colors, and the fact that they can effectively fill up dead space. The concept of clocks is also intriguing, if you…See More
